IEC 61439 architecture

All the PanelBuilders know the IEC 61439-1&2, published in January 2009. But the new IEC 61439 standard includes more than 2 parts! Actually, the norm contains 6 parts plus 1 guide. So we have:

IEC 61439-0: guide for specifying assemblies
IEC 61439-1: General rules
IEC 61439-2: Power switchgear and control gear assemblies
IEC 61439-3: Distribution boards
IEC 61439-4: Assemblies for construction sites
IEC 61439-5: Assemblies for power distribution
IEC 61439-6: Busbar trunking systems

The fact is, until now, only 4 parts have been published: IEC 61439 part 0, 1, 2 and 5.
So what about the other parts? Actually, parts 3, 4 and 6 will be available between 2010 and 2011.

The new IEC 61439 is an update of the old 60439 series. During the past, the aim of the previous IEC 60439-1 standard was to lay down the definitions and to state the service conditions, construction requirements, technical characteristics and tests for low-voltage switchgear and controlgear assemblies (U < 1000 V.).

IEC 61439 fully satisfies the requirements of designers and users of new generation
LV switchboards: safety of persons and equipment, electrical availability, long-term reliability and conformity.
